Welcome to the Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Panel Website

The Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Panel scrutinises and supports the work of the Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner.

Made up of 14 councillors and 3 Independent Members, we represent the residents of the 9 local authorities in the force area – Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, Mendip, North Somerset, Sedgemoor, Somerset County, Somerset West and Taunton, South Gloucestershire and South Somerset.

Next panel meeting

Wednesday 23rd June 2021 at 10.30am (AGM) – Somerset County Cricket Club, The Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton, Somerset, TA1 1JT.

The Agenda and reports will be available here to download one week before the meeting.

Over the past year, meetings have been conducted in a manner that complied with the relevant statutory regulations relating to the conduct of “remote meetings”. In this respect, meetings were conducted virtually between Panel Members, the PCC, officers from the Host Authority and officers from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.

The Government has now confirmed that it will not be extending the virtual meeting regulations beyond 7th May 2021 and instead will be consulting on primary legislation to come forward later in the year. This will mean that from 7th May 2021, physical public meetings will return until any new primary legislation is agreed.

We are recruiting two Independent Members to assist the Police and Crime Panel in holding the Police and Crime Commissioner to account.

Are you interested in modern Policing, resource issues and reviewing the strategic direction of the Constabulary?
